The 16-week Language Skills TOEFL® Prep course prepares students for the rigorous skills practice it takes to obtain a desirable TOEFL® score for college entrance. The class uses cutting edge material and assimilates authentic practice test circumstances to sharpen time management and integrated comprehension skills. Our course focuses on test-taking strategies, academic language expansion, critical thinking, academic reading & discussions, and coaching in writing & speaking to maximize each student’s test-taking potential. Upon completion of our program, you can be confident of possessing strong academic English skills and look forward to excelling in college.
Admission requirements to TOEFL® Prep – An internationally recognized placement test is administered to interested students to discern eligibility for entrance into the program. Additionally, those who have successfully placed into Level 6 of the Institute’s English program may opt to enroll in TOEFL® iBT.

Orientation, Placement & Prerequisites
Orientation
Before your first class, you are required to attend Orientation. During Orientation, you will have many opportunities to mingle with your new classmates, as well as the Language Skills faculty and staff. You’ll have the chance to explore academic options, campus and student-life activities, government regulations and school rules, the city of Boston and its resources, and our expectations of you as a student. During Orientation, each student will receive a welcome kit, a counseling session with an academic counselor, a student ID card and a placement test.
Placement
Our placement test has a written and a spoken part. The written part is designed to give students and teachers of English a quick way of assessing the approximate level of a student’s knowledge of English grammar and usage. This part takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. The spoken part is designed to assess the student’s approximate level of communication skills. You will be placed into the class level that best suits you based on the results of your placement test.
Prerequisites
Our TOEFL Preparation class is available for students in level 6 or above.
